West Kirby is a traditional seaside resort with a Marine Lake, promenade, formal parks and elegant shopping parades. It's a starting point for walks across the sands to the Hilbre Islands Local Nature Reserve. Wirral Country Park includes the former West Kirby to Hooton railway, woodlands rich with wildlife and low cliffs near to Thurstaston Visitor Centre, grassy headlands rising above the miles of fine sands along the Dee Estuary. The views across to the Clwydian Mountains are superb.

Promenade and Marine Lake

Stroll along the promenade and watch the fishermen rowing out to their boats. Or get wet yourself sailing, canoeing or windsurfing on the massive salt-water Marine Lake. Take a donkey ride or just relax on the award-winning sandy beach.

Hilbre Island

A local nature reserve, with bird sanctuary, playful seals and also the islands famous dinosaur footprint (just check tide times before you visit!)
